There are three roads going to the Yosemite Valley, Hwy120 (from Sonora), Hwy140 (from Mariposa), and Hwy41 (from Oakhurst).
I usually take Hwy120 to get to the Yosemite Valley and Tioga Road.
This time we took Hwy140, which I've never driven before. Getting into the Valley via Hwy140 offers different sceneries as the road goes along the canyon.
Also, articles say it is a right access route in winter.

This route (Hwy140) is also known as the "all-weather highway", as it enters directly into Yosemite Valley without reaching elevations above 4000 ft.
This makes it a more reliable route in the winter, as it is less likely to require chains or snow tires to enter the park.

We started snowshoe (Carmen and Dan tried their cross-country ski) in the Valley floor after finishing our lunch. Our destination was Mirror Lake and beyond.
We tried to get to a bridge to cross the Tenaya Creek (so that we can make a loop). Unfortunately, the trail became impassible due to many downed trees (they were downed because of rock-slide from Half-Dome side).
We tried our best but we needed to give up as sun is setting.
